Demolition Of Condemned Justice Ministry Building in Palau to Cost $110K
It will cost at least $100,000 to demolish the BRT Building of the Ministry of Justice, which was earlier condemned as unsafe.
BRT Building is named after the initials of Bismark, Rengiil and Termeteet, who are some of the most prominent names to have donned the police uniform.
Vice President and Minister of Justice Raynold Oilouch over the weekend provided a copy of the cost estimate made by the Bureau of Public Works, which stated that it will cost at least $110,000 for demolition work.
The cost will cover payments for tax, permits, mobilization, safety provision and environmental protection and the demolition itself.
The three-story structure, which is sandwiched between fire station and immigration office, will be demolished and new office building will be constructed in the premises.
Moves to vacate the building is underway, which houses the Division of Criminal Investigations (CID) on upper floors and administrative section including registration and licensing in the ground floor.
BRT Building was constructed in mid-1990 with labors supplied by prisoners of Koror Jail.
